Movie night has always been a weekend staple in our home. Since I refuse to step into a theater any time soon, I wanted to make our family movie night this week extra special. In this post, I am going to share my favorite At Home Family Movie Night essentials, so you can create a fun evening for your family. For the best deals my husband and I headed to our local Dollar General. In total, we spent about $15 for all these goodies! Now ya’ll know, if you went to the regular theater that would barely cover 1 adult ticket.

Having the perfect serving tray is key when creating a snack spread. While Dollar General does carry large serving trays, I already had a wooden one at home. Our whitewashed tray was the perfect size to fit all of our snacks and beverages.
The snacks were an easy choice, since each of us have our signature favorite. I love buncha crunch, my husband loves Reese’s Pieces, and Landon loves sour patch kids. We also added Harper’s yogurt melts after these photos LOL.
On family movie nights we are all about the kid friendly movies. Some of our favorites are Trolls, Blended, Despicable Me, Little Giants, and Coco. Our list is endless! This particular night we opted for Onward via Disney+. But guess what? Dollar General also sells DVDs! Some of the titles our store had in stock included:
Jumanji The Next Level, Marvel Universe Movies, Star Wars Series, Jurassic Park Series, Indiana Jones Series, Hancock, Men In Black, Wonder Woman, Zootopia, and The Incredibles
Make sure you and your loved ones are cozy and equipped with their designated snacks before the start of the movie. If you have littles that would prefer to have their own tray vs. sharing one, try these caddies. Pack each one with a juice cup, popcorn, and some fruit snacks. Affordable yet so effective. 🙂
I hope you enjoy your At Home Family Movie Night, and create special memories. Given the current crazy state of the world today, I urge you to pause and remember that your children will cherish the time you spend together as a family. Please make it a priority. The schoolwork, messy house, and laundry will always be there. Make those memories mama! xo.
